The Professional Pickle
The Professional Pickle
Look at you, 2025, throwing punches at The (generally pretty chill) Heirloomist.
In January, a well known outdoor clothing company, whose name I won’t mention but rhymes with Charlie Sheen, sent out a marketing email blast telling some *very* familiar human stories about beloved articles of clothing…just months after we presented them with the same stories in an Heirloomist partnership pitch.
When the company that rhymes with Charlie Sheen was contacted about the similarities, they called it a coincidence. The Heirloomist is calling it BS. And so I find myself in a nice crisp Professional Pickle.
What would you do? It’s hard being part professional, part pissed. Charlie Sheen employs entire departments of people to tell stories about their brand. Why did they have to use mine for free? I mean, I’m flattered Charlie, but do better.
Alas my anger is only going to distract me from doing what I love— making art, telling stories, and being here with all of you. And I chose love. So Bye. Next. (Thank you actual Charlie Sheen for being my cover man.)
We now return to our regular scheduled programming which is so much better than having your business ripped off! This June, The Heirloomist will celebrate our ten year anniversary. The adventure has been extraordinary, the community we built so incredibly special, and as we look to the next ten, we have some fun projects and promotions in the wings. Be sure you are tuned in on Instagram and over on Facebook in the VIP room for news and announements.
Two items of business before I go:
Many of you are letting us know that our emails are not reaching you, possibly landing in spam folders. If you reached out and didn’t get a response, email me directly and I will personally reply to get started on your order or answer any questions. shana@theheirloomist.com
This is the time of year where our turnaround times start to get lengthy as everyone prepares gifts for Graduation, Mothers Day, and Fathers Day. Please plan ahead. Heirloomist art makes such a thoughtful gift but it also takes time to create.
That’s all from me. Have a great weekend everyone. #showusyourheirloom
